Smothered

Logan plopped down on the couch beside me and grabbed a pillow.  He snuggled it to his chest.
“Dad, these pillows are so soft.  How did they make them so soft?  I love them!”
“They’re pretty great alright,” I said, maintaining focus on the phone in my hand.
“If I was ever going to be smothered to death by a pillow, I’d want it to be this one,” he said, getting up to leave the room.
“Oh, okay,” I responded, semi-automatically.
Wait, what?  His response suddenly caught my attention but it was too late, he was already gone.

I’ll keep that in mind.
